"I’ve always been too busy to meditate; at least that’s what I’ve always told myself. When I started this course, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to find the time to focus each day. My schedule is erratic as a 24/7 parent and routine is hard to come by. This course was so adaptable though. I could read or listen to the learning materials any time of day on any device. I found that no matter how busy or distracted I am, somehow I could manage to find a few quiet minutes to focus and meditate. The practice was soothing and helped guide me to seek moments of calm when things are feeling chaotic. I will continue to practice what I learned in this course and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who is trying to fit meditation and mindfulness into a busy life."

The sun is always shining but we can't always see it. Our minds, like the sun can become cloudy or we might find ourselves in a limiting mindset and we can lose our perspective.

A regular meditation practice allows us to renew, refresh and restore our minds on a regular basis. It wipes away the clouds of everyday stress and reminds us that our own light can shine through regardless of the conditions around us.

Stress is a normal part of the human experience and is an ordinary part of our daily lives. It forces us to make a change and enables us to evolve and adapt to current circumstances and situations. However, when we are faced with a myriad of problems, changes and challenges at once, or if we perceive some situations to be negative or threatening, we can feel overwhelmed and stress hormones can flood our bodies.

On top of that, whether we like it or not, culture, society, news reports, our social media feeds and other factors outside of us all influence us. Participation in various institutions throughout our lives has all contributed to our conditioning. Even when we consciously attempt to break free from it, we are susceptible to these influences.

In addition, we haven't necessarily evolved our instincts to adapt to the modern world. We're still keen on self-preservation and even though the proverbial tiger isn't stalking us right now, we still can act as if it were from time to time. We can feel disconnected from our own true nature when we become overly stressed.

The goal of meditation isn't to control your thoughts, it is to stop letting them control you.

Repetitive stressful situations can have a lasting and detrimental effect on our health and wellness. Stress can cloud our judgement, and we can make rash impulsive decisions instead of acting with awareness. Worse yet when we react to circumstances instead of responding thoughtfully to them, we can create even more stress. It then becomes a vicious cycle.

We're energy; we interact with our environment; we are not an entity entirely unto ourselves, even though we can feel and act as if we are. Meditation helps us find our center, connect with our true nature thereby helping us to put things in perspective.

Meditation reorganizes the brain and can quiet repetitive thoughts. The sense of peace, centering, and clarity that connects us to the world we live in - it's life-enhancing - meditation creates that space. That's why meditation is important. With regular practice, we can come to appreciate who we are and how to move in this world with more joy, more love, more compassion, and gratitude as we allow life to unfold. We might even find ourselves letting go of a need to control everything and allow life to flow. It's possible and even plausible that we can find ourselves pausing and listening before reacting.

Does meditation cure disease?
There are no claims that meditation cures physical disease. What a meditation practice does is to help the body to reach homeostasis, a state of health. It does that through changing our physiology and bringing us into a relaxation state. A state of health is different from curing disease. Meditation can take you to any state of health, but it depends on a variety of factors including what stage of dis-ease your body has reached through time and circumstance.
Why pay to learn to meditate, there are a lot of free meditations available on line?
First and foremost this course is not simply a list of links. This course offers you support as you learn to meditate. Secondly, even though meditation is a practice that costs nothing at all and can be performed by anyone for free, instruction and programs centered on meditation do cost money, work and time to create and to teach. Meditation teachers are not only providing you with guidance and support, but they also have business and personal expenses. We - humans - pay one another for goods and services, this is a system that we all participate in on this Earth during this time.
